Lunches Cloontagh School has a healthy eating policy. School lunches are provided by Laffertys, Malin. Lunches brought from home should follow the guidelines. Sugary treats, crisps etc are not allowed. Each classroom has a water cooler and children must bring water bottles. No juice or fizzy drinks are allowed.
Absences and Timekeeping It is important that your child is on time for school. Persistant lateness causes disruption in your child's class and may be stressful for your child. If your child is late please leave them at the door of the school. If a child is absent from school the parent should email the class teacher for school records. Any parent taking their child out of school early must also email the class teacher
Green School Cloontagh School is a Green school. We have already achieved 2 green flags and are working towards our 3rd. We have the litter flag and the electricity flag. The theme for this flag is water conservation. Each class elects members for our Green Schools Committee for the year. The committee help come up with ideas eg for this flag remind peers to turn off taps and ensure each child in class takes their turn to empty the class compost bin.
Active school Cloontagh School is an active school. We achieved our 1st active flag in June 2017. We believe it is important for the students to get plenty opportunities to be active. Each class in Cloontagh N.S receives one hour of Physical Education once a week (in accordance with department guidelines). Throughout the year the six strands of the curriculum are taught (gymnastics, games, dance, outdoor and adventure activities, swimming and athletics). This year we have prioritised the dance strand. Each teacher will be completing a dance workshop organised by the PDST. As the year progresses look out for some of the childrens’ new dance moves!
